Library Digital Collection - newly added Koç Museum Sound Recordings

SKL proudly presents the addition of a new collection in the Digital Collection Resources. The collection is named “Sounds of The Rahmi M. Koç Museum - Echoes of Industrial Legacy” and as its’ name implies, it contains various industrial sound recordings.

Sounds that at one time were part of the everyday life in the field of energy, telecommunications, car manufacture, agriculture and many others but are scarce to be found nowadays, are now one click away


Library has a New Membership in a Publishing Institute

We would like to inform you that the Library recently started a membership in MDPI. MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) is a publisher of scholarly open access journals. All journals uphold a peer-reviewed, rapid, and rigorous manuscript handling and editorial process. Due to this membership, authors can benefit with a 10% discount in the Article Processing Charges- APC.

Technology Lending in the Library

The Suna Kıraç Library circulates not only books but also scientific calculators, IPads, etc. Koç University faculty, staff, and students. This is an effort by the Library to ensure that our users have the technological means to conduct research, and complete coursework as efficiently and effectively as possible.

SKL’s initial inventory consists mostly of frequently requested items like adapters (e.g., miniDisplay Port to HDMI), flash drives, and Wi-fi stereo adapters for headsets. A few high-end devices are also offered, including Ipads, laptops and Slim DVD-RW and Player.

Below, you may find a brief information of recently added technological wi-fi stereo adapters:

Sennheiser RI 830S TV Infrared Headphones are now available at the Reserve Desk and you may borrow them for 2 hours with 1 renewal to be able to use with TV screens located on the second floor. The set enables assisted listening anywhere without the need for cables and without disturbing others.

Seminar Room as Super Quiet Study Area

You have propably noticed - and some of you may have used already – there is a seminar room on the 2nd floor.

The room is mainly used for instructions and other kind of seminars / talks / workshops. Nevertheless, in busy days it is opened for the users, as a study room, so that there is more space for you in the Library.

Keep in mind that it is considered as a Super Quiet Study Area, where talking is not allowed and those occupying the place should remain silent throughout their presence there.
