Library Undergraduate Student Survey 2016

Dear Koç University Students,

Your participation in this 2016 Suna Kıraç Library Undergraduate Student Survey will contribute to the assessment and improvement of Suna Kıraç Library services and resources, by evaluating the most important ones and set priorities for future initiatives. The answers will be processed and the feedback will be taken under consideration for the benefit of the scholarly community. Participation is completely voluntary and you may stop the survey at any time. All responses are anonymous and confidental.

Panel: An overview to Koç University Cultural Heritage Studies

VEKAM Library, November 25th

Memory institutions play an important role in preserving, maintaining and bestowing cultural heritage. The Suna Kıraç Library is organizing a panel discussion, partnering with the VEKAM, November 25th in Ankara, in order to share its experiences and contribute to ongoing researches.

Panel discussion will portray the Koç University’s vision of cultural heritage and how relevant sources contribute to academic researches and studies. Emphasis will be put on the methods which are followed regarding the management, preservation and dissemination of the cultural collections.

The Collection of the LibGuides has being growing with the addition of two more LibGuides.

1) SKL has being hosting and maintaining the KU Institutional Repository. The IR Is an Open Access publication platform and search interface for scientific output and supports different type of data (articles, conference proceedings, theses, working papers, technical reports, etc). In general, the IRs promote greatly researches, as it is easily accessible without strict restrictions and other kind of barriers. Thus citations raise significantly and since the repository serves as an electronic archive, the publications are being preserved long term. Additionally, the KU IR participates in open access initiatives and umbrella organizations with the commitment to promote open access and maximizes compliancy with open access requirements of research funders. The Guide includes all necessary information regarding IR as well as the KU IR and guidelines and tips on how to submit your publication. 2) SKL’s mission is to provide high standard services to the Academic Community. The Guide focuses on the Faculty members and brings together services and tools that assist both their research and teaching. The sections include the Document Delivery Services, the Reserve Material policy, the borrowing rights of KU Faculty members, the Instruction Sessions and Workshops being held by the Reference Team, information on personalized assistance from the Liaison Librarians and useful resources on measuring the Research Impact.
