BiblioPera: Beyoğlu Research Centers Platform and Library Union Catalog Project

BiblioPera, supported by Istanbul Development Agency, brings the collections of nine research center libraries in Beyoğlu together. For the project, Koç University Suna Kıraç Library partners with Istanbul Research Institute; and participants include Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED), SALT Research, Deutsches Archäologisches Institut-İstanbul, Netherlands Institute in Turkey, Institut Français d'Études Anatoliennes, Orient-Institut Istanbul, Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul, and Sismanoglio Megaro Sakulidis Library

Inspired by a comment made by an ANAMED fellow, the project will culminate in a web platform that would unite the catalogues of the partnering libraries, and would serve as a plaftorm for the research centers to cooperate.

On May 31, 2016, BiblioPera launch event was held in the ANAMED Auditorium, and it featured talks by Koç University Suna Kıraç Library Director Tuba Akbaytürk, İstanbul Research Institute Executive Ekrem Işın, Koç University ANAMED Director Chris Roosevelt, and BiblioPera Project Coordinator Ersan Dur. After Ersan Dur’s presentation on the project’s initiation and development, Ms. Akbaytürk, Mr. Işın and Mr. Roosevelt commented on the importance of BiblioPera, not only as a research tool, but also as a basis for future collaboration among the important research and culture institutions in Istanbul.

The Ankara Immovable Cultural Property Inventory has taken its place among Suna Kıraç Library Digital Collections!

The Ankara Immovable Cultural Property Inventory is the product of work carried out for a VEKAM project between 1996-1998 by art historians Gökçe Günel, Müberra Günel, Nesibe Acar and Ahmet Bal. It is based on the photographs of the immovable cultural property of the Altındağ district taken between 1978-1979 and a study carried out on the inventory of the Culture Ministry at the time. As part of the study, 632 registered pieces of immovable cultural property in Altındağ district were inventoried and these records placed online for researchers to access.
